Naloxone Saves Lives Effort Launched

This effort hightlights a cooperative effort between UF HealthStreet and the Florida Department of Health. UF CARE Members Drs. Linda Cottler and Catherine Striley presented data on the context of opioid overdose in Alachua County and Florida, then Dr. Henry Young of the Department of Emergency Medicine demonstrated use of the naloxone nasal mist. The event also featured remarks by Deans Michael Perri and Julie Johnson, as well as CTSI Co-Director Elizabeth Shenkman.  Life-saving naloxone was distributed to interested attendees.

NIDA-funded T32 Welcomes Applications for Postdoctoral Positions

The UF Substance Abuse Training Center in Public Health (Director Dr. Linda Cottler) is welcoming applications for two postdoctoral positions, one to start between now and mid-June, and another to start after July 1, 2020. NEW GRANT FUNDING

Dr. Katherine Wright Awarded NIH F32 Fellowship

UF CARE Affiliate Member Dr. Katherine Wright, a postdoc in Dr. Daniel Wesson's laboratory, has received a 3 year NIH F32 fellowship titled, “Learned olfactory preferences and estradiol”.

AWARDS & HONORS

Dr. Lori Knacksted was elected as a Full Member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP) in December 2019.

UF CARE Affiliates Tessa Frohe and Christian Garcia were recipients of Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction (CPA) Graduate Student Travel Award to attend the Annual Meeting in April 2020.

UF CARE Affiliate Christian Garcia was recipient of a travel award to attend the Volterra Conference "Alcoholism and Stress: A Framework for Future Treatment Strategies" in May 2020, where he will present a poster.
